Mit Joyner, MSW, LSW, a breast cancer survivor and 2003 Living Beyond Breast Cancer gala honoree, began working with LBBC more than a decade ago when LBBC’s founder asked her to become involved. She helped hire Jean A. Sachs, MSS, MLSP, the organization’s first executive director. Ms. Joyner spoke at some of LBBC’s first conferences and regularly promotes the organization’s mission through television, newspaper and magazine interviews. She approves continuing education credits for social workers who attend LBBC programs for licensure.
Ms. Joyner is a full professor of the undergraduate social work program at West Chester University. The vice president of the Council on Social Work Education, Ms. Joyner is a site selector for the Association of Baccalaureate Social Workers and the bank director for DNB First. She has won numerous awards in the fields of social work, gerontology and education. Her social work degrees are from Central State University and Howard University. Ms. Joyner enjoys travel, riding horses and visiting friends.
