Anna Cluxton
President of Young Survivor Coalition
Anna was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2001, at age 32, five days after returning home from her honeymoon. She joined YSC in October 2001 as a volunteer and was nominated to the Board in 2003. Prior to her position as President, she served in various roles including Vice President, Affiliate Liaison and Chair of the Volunteer Development Committee. Anna is also credited as the co-founder of the Central Ohio Affiliate.
Anna is a Project LEAD® graduate, a Lifetime Television Breast Cancer Hero and the recipient of an Astra Zeneca Vision of Hope Award. She has served as a Team Leader for NBCC and four times as an advocate reviewer for the California Breast Cancer Research Program. She has presented on a local and national level on breast cancer in young women, on research issues and her own story. Along with three other Ohio women, Anna instituted the Ohio Breast Cancer License Plate and the fund which receives and grants money for the plate. She enjoys writing and her commentary provides the young survivor’s perspective in Judy Kneece's well known book Your Breast Cancer Treatment Handbook.
With an M.B.A. in Healthcare Administration, Anna has worked in breast health and cancer genetics programs in Columbus, Ohio. Her current work is managing two cancer control research studies at the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Anna also enjoys horseback riding, training for YSC’s Tour de Pink, social media networking, and doing advocacy work for dogs when she has free time. She and her husband Brian live in Columbus, Ohio, with their two rescued pit-bull mixes.
