1. Centennial Olympic Park
This 21-acre site was one of the most popular spots in the city during the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games. Today, the park features concerts, family activities, festivals and the world’s largest Olympic Ring fountain.
2. Georgia Aquarium
Get up close and personal with gentle whale sharks, beluga whales and more. With the largest collection of aquatic animals from around the globe, there’s something for everyone!
3. World of Coca-Cola
Thirsty? This museum boasts a 4-D theater, a restored 1880’s soda fountain, a one-of-a-kind World of Coca-Cola glass bottle and an opportunity to sample 70 different beverages from around the world.
4. Inside CNN
Go behind the scenes at the global headquarters of CNN Atlanta. This tour will give you an inside look at news and broadcasting in action! Check out the world’s largest freestanding escalator, browse over 25 years of CNN footage and get a taste of the fast-paced environment of live television news in the control room.
5. Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site & Sweet Auburn District
Come see the birthplace of Martin Luther King Jr., one of the world’s most influential individuals! Explore his birth home, the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church and the King Center, where Dr. King’s Nobel Peace Prize is on exhibit. The gravesite of Dr. King and his wife, Coretta Scott King, are also located at the King Center.
6. Lenox Square
Featuring nearly 250 specialty stores, Lenox Square is the Southeast’s number one shopping destination. The mall offers stores like Bloomingdale’s, Neiman Marcus, Macy’s, Burberry, Calvin Klein, Louis Vuitton, Kate Spade, Ralph Lauren and more. You can also plan an evening of entertainment at many area attractions and theater and concert venues by visiting AtlanTIX, a half-price ticket outlet at SIMON Guest Services in the mall.
7. Horizon Theatre
Calling all theater buffs! Atlanta’s contemporary theater features a great mix of new comedies, dramas and musicals. In this intimate environment, guests can feel part of the experience. Chosen as the critics “Best Theater Company.”
8. Outlet Malls
North Georgia Premium Outlets is Georgia’s first and only premium outlet center. The center offers merchandise from 140 stores. The Atlanta Link even offers a Shopping Shuttle to transport you to the outlets from your hotel.
9. High Museum of Art
Founded in 1905, the High Museum of Art is the leading art museum in the southeast. Here you’ll find a broad, diverse collection of 19/20th century American works, European paintings, African-American art, photography and modern and contemporary art. Visit their website to make reservations.
10. Atlantic Station
This city within a city has a walkable streetscape-style setting, brick paved streets and a Central Park. Atlantic Station also features great boutiques, sidewalk cafes, hip restaurants, festivals and concerts. Free shuttles are available from the Arts Center MARTA Station.
